Alaska Conservation Foundation proudly announces the 2018 Conservation Achievement Award winners
Since 1985, Alaska Conservation Foundation has recognized the remarkable achievements of individuals and organizations committed to protecting Alaska through its Conservation Achievement Awards program. Each nomination category is named after notable conservation heroes in the areas of education, movement building, Alaska Native inclusivity, and professional achievement.
Today, we announce and offer congratulations to the winners of the 2018 Conservation Achievement Awards. These are the men and women who work every day to ensure that Alaska is thoughtfully protected, not just for the present, but forever.
33rd annual Alaska Conservation Achievement Award Recipients are as followed:
- Wayne Weihing, Ketchikan, Alaska – Celia Hunter Award for Outstanding Professional Contributions
- Randall Hagenstein, Anchorage, Alaska- Olaus Murie Award for Outstanding Professional Contributions
- Jode Sparks, Sterling, Alaska- Denny Wilcher Award for Young Environmental Activist
- Ben Hamilton, Denver, Colorado- Daniel Housberg, Wilderness Image Award for Excellence in Film or Video
- Patrick Ryan, Anchorage, Alaska- Jerry S. Dixon Award for Excellence in Environmental Education
- Bernadette Demientieff, Fort Yukon, Alaska- Caleb Pungowiyi Award, Outstanding Achievements by an Alaska Native Organization or Induvial
- Trustees for Alaska, Anchorage, Alaska- Lowell Thomas, Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievements by a Conservation Organization
