Our hearts go out to the residents of the Gulf Coast. Alaskans know the fear and uncertainty they face. The devastating impacts of the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexio is a frightening reminder of not only the Exxon Valdez spill, but of the risks Alaska faces with proposals to develop offshore oil reserves in the Arctic Ocean. In our icy waters there is no proven capacity to control or clean up an oil spill. ACF is funding organizations working on clean energy alternatives for cold climates. Our grantees are also sharing their expertise by assisting in the Gulf of Mexico. To raise money for the clean up efforts, ACF grantee Prince William Sound Keeper is promoting: www.saveourgulf.org.
