Now that the public comment periods for both the Arctic Refuge and Bristol Bay are closed, you might be wondering what you can do to help protect them from resource extraction. You have many options!
- Continue to reach out to your representatives to discuss the negative impacts of resource extraction in these sensitive areas and how your support is on the line depending on their stance on these issues.
- Submit articles to your local paper to help spread awareness.
- Discuss these issues with your friends, family, and coworkers to help educate them.
- Donate to conservation organizations working on these issues, like Alaska Conservation Foundation! We are continuing to work strategically to defend the Arctic Refuge and Bristol Bay, but we need your support along the way.
We are currently awaiting Draft Environmental Impact Statements for each proposed project. Once those are released, public comment periods will open again. At that point, we will need community feedback on these reports. Stay tuned for other ideas of how you can help in the meantime!
