In April 2010, the Alaska Legislature paved the way for Alaska to become a leader in the global market for clean energy. With assistance from ACF grantees Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) and Alaska Conservation Alliance (ACA), the Alaska Legislature passed a statewide energy bill that will have far-reaching effects for the entire state. The new policy sets energy efficiency goals and provides funding for renewable energy research and initiatives that will create new high tech jobs.
