All who knew Martha Levensaler were touched by her compassion, enthusiasm, caring, infectious laugh, and commitment to enhancing the skills and support for people engaged in advocating for conservation.
Martha made an indelible mark on Alaska’s conservation movement by fostering relationship building and leadership development. She served as mentor to young leaders and women professionals. Martha helped build capacity for boards throughout the nation and served on the boards of several Alaska conservation organizations.
Martha embodied what it means to be part of a community. She believed that to help the conservation movement succeed it was critical to strengthen the skills and confidence of the people involved. She was a leader who bolstered new leaders. And she did it with conviction and fun.
The Martha Levensaler Leadership Fund was created to honor Martha’s legacy and specifically to benefit the people who are involved in improving conservation efforts. To accomplish this, the Fund will provide funds for training, skill building and organization development.
