Nominate your candidate by April 9th

ACF is currently accepting nominations for the 2012 Conservation Achievement Awards! Do you know an individual or organization making extraordinary contributions to conservation in Alaska? Nominate them today. You’ll find everything you need to make your nomination here — from guidelines to the nomination form.

Purpose

The purpose of Alaska Conservation Foundation’s (ACF) Conservation Achievement Awards program is to recognize the remarkable achievements of individuals and organizations committed to protecting Alaska.

Award Categories

  • ACF Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Celia Hunter Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contributions
  • Olaus Murie Award for Outstanding Professional Contributions
  • Lowell Thomas, Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievements by a Conservation
    Organization
  • Denny Wilcher Award for Young Environmental Activists
  • Jerry S. Dixon Award for Excellence in Environmental Education
  • Daniel Housberg Wilderness Image Award for Excellence in Still Photography, Film, or
    Video
  • Award for Outstanding Achievements by an Alaska Native Organization or Individual

Eligibility

  • All nominations must be consistent with ACF’s mission to build strategic leadership and support for Alaskan efforts to take care of wild lands, waters, and wildlife, which sustain diverse cultures, healthy communities, and prosperous economies.
  • Alaskans and non-Alaskans are eligible.
  • Anyone who has done substantial Alaskan conservation work can be nominated.
  • Nominations for all awards (except Wilcher) remain active for two years from the date of
    submission and can be considered for awards throughout the 3-year period.
  • Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nomination Form

Nomination Process

  1. Download the 2012 Guidelines and Nomination Form.
  2. Complete and prepare your nomination packet, which must include:  a completed nomination form including 2-3 references, a one-page nomination letter,  additional documentation required for the Wilcher and Housberg awards (see special notes), and optional documentation.
  3. Submit your nomination package to ACF by April 9th.

Special notes:

  • Housberg Award: Must include links to samples of the candidate’s work. Refer to nomination form for specific details.
  • Wilcher Award: Must include a 500-word essay from the student, describing their commitment to conservation through examples of innovative personal and collaborative action. Refer to nomination form for specific details.

Due Date

Nomination packets must be received via email, fax or postmarked by April 9, 2012.

  • By mail. If submitting by mail, please send your completed nomination packet (postmarked by April 9th) to:
