You Can Determine the Future of the Arctic Refuge
April 15, 2010
As the Arctic Refuge turns 50, a new discussion has opened up about its future.  U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) is undertaking a Comprehensive Conservation Planning process to determine the future status of lands in the refuge not currently designated as wilderness. The current plan is more than 20 years old and does not reflect the changes in climate and visitor use patterns. Using a grant from ACF, Wilderness Watch convened a number of Arctic Refuge and planning experts to discuss optimal provisions for protecting the future of the Arctic Refuge. Read their recommendations.
All US citizens are invited to participate in the discussion!  Download the planning booket for more information and use the form to submit your comments.
